CWF Minutes for April 9, 2019

CWF Minutes for April 9, 2019

Wed, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

The 7 in attendance were:

Desiree B, Barbara Ann F, Dale H, Janet M, Janet S, Emily T and Pat T.

Location:  the home of Dale H

Hostesses:  Dale H (in her home)

Worship:  Janet S

Project:  Health items for the Life Center

The meeting was opened by Barbara Ann F who read a Margaret Baxter poem from “Ideals” Magazine, followed with a prayer. Barbara Ann read the Treasurer’s Report, stating the balance in the General Fund was $1,013.90 for March and $1,167.90 for April. This includes $110.00 for the Women of Transformation. Pat Treat read the Minutes.

Bank business

Barbara Ann reported that our account was changed by the bank from a ‘no service charge’ account to a “standard checking account” at the PNC Bank. There is now a $7 monthly fee unless we maintain a $500 average in the account. Barbara Ann will investigate further. We may go to TD Bank if PNC will not change it back to a ‘no service fee’ account, and if TD Bank has a ‘no service fee’ account.

2018 Craft Fair

We have $289.84 left over after buying the water fountains that we can spend on another project. Discussion of this was postponed until a better time.

2019 Craft Fair

Janet M can make the soup ahead of time, but she cannot be here Friday or Saturday, October 18 & 19, as she is performing a wedding out of state.

There may not be a Bake Table this year, or not much on it, if there is one.  Barbara Ann says she will not be able to make much.

Program and Worship Devotional

Janet S and Dale H brought us a report of a book, The Cruelest Journey by Kira Salak, which was autobiographical about her trip kayaking alone on the Niger River in Africa to Timbuktu, 206 years later than it was done by Scottish explorer, Mungo Park. It was about being brave through God's help, using Deuteronomy 31:6 (“Be brave and steadfast … for the Lord is with you.”), Isaiah 41:10 (“Fear not, for I am with you.”), Philippians 4:6–7 (“…dismiss anxiety … exchanging it for God’s peace”) and Psalm 23, (“The Lord is my shepherd…”).

January Project: Women of Transformation

is on-going into May. Janet S and Pat T will deliver what we gather to the Women of Transformation soon.

Lunch

Our hostess was Dale who provided Apple Crumb Pie with Ice Cream, and a Lemon Meringue Pie in her home.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be in the church building’s Fellowship Hall with Emily and Pat Treat as co-hostesses, featuring the Salad Supper.  It will not be in the evening of June 12 as previously planned. The June meeting may take place the first or second Tuesday instead of a Wednesday. That would be the 4th or the 11th. Nancy and Jill W will present a slide show of their recent trip to Vietnam.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat Treat
